Andrea Stiglich is a member of the Economist Intelligence Unit's team of Latin American analysts. She is currently the principal analyst for Peru, Bolivia and Guatemala, but has previously covered Chile and Uruguay. Prior to joining the Latin America team of analysts in London, Andrea was based in new York and worked for two years as a programme manager for The Economist's events business. In that role she was responsible for conference content and government relations in Mercosur countries, especially Brazil. A native Peruvian, she has travelled extensively in Latin America for business. Previously Andrea worked on social policy and political reform at IPESM, a Peruvian think tank, and at International IDEA on democracy consolidation programmes. Andrea has done research on US policy towards Latin America at the Inter-American Dialogue—a DC-based think tank—and research on ethanol at the São Paulo-based Institute for International Trade Negotiations (Icone). She has done consultancy work on regional integration for the Inter-American Development Bank. Andrea holds a Masters in Public Policy and Administration from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and has a sociology degree from the Catholic University of Peru.
