Andrew covers the EIU's commerce and finance reporting on a portfolio of 14 economies, with a focus on government regulation. He works on African, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean countries including Egypt, France, Greece, Iran, Israel, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Spain and the United Arab Emirates. He also contributes research to the EIU's Custom Research group and articles to its Risk Briefing and Viewswire products. This latter work has focused primarily on governance issues in French-speaking countries and the European Union.
Before joining the EIU, Andrew worked with the Migration Policy Institute, the Open Society Institute and the International Rescue Committee, where he conducted research on global governance and foreign labour across the European Union, the Mediterranean region, and the African continent. Andrew holds a bachelors degree in Government from Georgetown University and a Certificate in European Studies from its Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. He also holds a Master's in European Studies and a Certificate in Arabic from the London School of Economics, and has completed coursework at the Institut d'Études Politiques (Sciences Po) de Paris. His Master’s dissertation on the policymaking powers of the European Commission vis-à-vis other EU institutions was published by the London School of Economics’ Migration Studies Unit.
