David Calver joined the Economist Intelligence Unit in October 2002. In his position as Deputy Director, Data Services, David works within the Country Analysis Economics Unit. This team is responsible for the development of the economic forecasting methodology used by our country analysts, the production of the company's Data Services portfolio of products, and undertakes custom research projects for clients. David also manages the Industry Data team which specialises in forecasting data on six industry sectors: Automotive, Consumer Goods, Energy, Financial Services, Healthcare and Technology. Before joining the Economist Intelligence Unit, David was an economist at Merrill Lynch, specialising in Eastern European fixed income markets. His previous roles include economic forecasting at the Bank of England.
