Country Analysis
John Bowler was appointed director of the Economist Intelligence Unit's Country Risk Service (CRS) in April 2004. CRS produces regular analysis and ratings of political and economic risk on 140 countries worldwide. Mr Bowler is responsible for the quality of the CRS portfolio and for product development. Prior to his current position, Mr Bowler was for eight years the Economist Intelligence Unit's regional director for Latin America.
Before joining the Economist Intelligence Unit, Mr Bowler was engaged on a research project on the UK financial sector at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. He also had spells as a financial news reporter for Reuters and as a Latin American analyst for the British government. He holds degrees from the Universities of Cambridge and London.
