The Economist Intelligence Unit launches Market Explorer to help companies identify the best international market opportunities

Market Explorer is a unique online tool that allows companies focused on market scanning and forecasting to immediately see which countries and cities offer the greatest opportunities for their products and services, now and in the future.

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has today announced the launch of Market Explorer, a precise, reliable and fast online tool that provides evidence-based, actionable results helping clients prioritise markets and allocate global resources more effectively.

Powered by EIU Canback, which was acquired by the Economist Intelligence Unit earlier this year, Market Explorer hones in on markets that match key target demographics, both at country and city level. It also allows users to weight those opportunities against the risk inherent in any new market.

“With data on over 90 countries and 200 cities, Market Explorer puts a particular spotlight on centres of rapid economic growth. Users can rank and compare countries and cities in terms of their market potential by drawing on EIU Canback’s best-in-class demographic and income data”, said Chris Pearce, Director of the Consumer Markets practice at the EIU.  

With data available from 2005 through to 2030 and incorporating over 1,600 data points per city, Market Explorer helps businesses form a view on markets over time. Built upon the EIU’s rigorous approach to data standardisation, economic analysis and forecasts, it offers precise comparisons between potential markets today and in the future. Users can also adjust rankings according to their appetite for risk or return by refining and weighting results by adding over 15 external environmental indicators.
